In the United States, the majority of women opt to give birth in hospitals. Still, there has been a recent increase in the popularity of home births and free-standing birth centers. More women are showing interest in minimal interventions during childbirth and feeling empowered to control their environment, including who will be present and how the environment will be set up. With new research, information, and options available, new and experienced moms may ask themselves, “Where should I give birth?”

My Experiences

I have given birth twice in my life, once at a hospital and once at a free-standing birth center. I had two incredibly different experiences at these two places.
